Since our cars tend to be a central part of our lives, there are many people that end up with stuff piling up in their cars over the years. One thing that can be difficult to find a good spot for in the car is paperwork. Between work, mail, and family-related paperwork that you need to take with you in the car, it all can end up shifting around, falling in cracks, and piling up around your car. This post is going to cover some car accessories that will help give you a place for any stray paperwork that you need to bring on your daily drives.

Paperwork organizers for front seat area of your car

Some documents that you have in your car are there because you’ll need access to them quickly. Busy parents know the struggle of finding a moment to make important phone calls and having all the necessary information available when they need it. For times like this you don’t want to have to go search through the back of the car, so having a document organizer upfront is helpful.

This issue with having document organizers upfront is making sure they aren’t in the way. If there’s only a driver it’s easier because organizers can go in the passenger seat. If you know you’ll need the passenger seat and foot area free for a passenger, you need an organizer that won’t get in the way of your passenger.

Expandable document holders

Expandable document holders are a good option to keep up in the front seat area of your car because they are thinner and can be tucked in between seats and the center console, or in the car door storage areas.

Get a couple of these for important documents that you want to keep in arms reach in your car.

Keep in mind: The wider the document holder is the harder it is to fit it in the space between your seat and center console. So if that’s where you’re hoping to store it try to get a thinner expandible folder.

This document folder is one of the thinner options at 0.79 inches with 13 pockets for your papers.

This expandable folder has 14 multicolored pockets and labels and is 0.79 inches wide.

Both of the above folders are also fireproof to help protect your important documents.

If you know you’re going to need more papers than the 13 and 14 pocket folders provide room for, this one has 24 pockets. It’s thicker at 1.77 inches wide, so it may need to be stored somewhere like a seat or car door pocket.

Hanging organizers for the front of your car

There are lots of versions of hanging organizers for your car. In order to keep documents in the front seat area and easily accessible, you’ll need an organizer that can hang on the front passenger seat. This one is a great option.

It has multiple pockets of various shapes and sizes. You can use it to store full-size papers and notebooks, smaller notebooks, pens and pencils, a water bottle, and even your cell phone. There are several pockets that are big enough for documents, making it easy to separate documents within this single organizer.

This one is similar but includes a large zipper compartment to help keep items more secure.

Car gap organizer

These types of organizers are made for smaller items, such as phones and sunglasses. You could still use them to keep an important document or two folded and stored right at your hip. They fit in the gap between your car seat and center console, making use of a space that usually just eats whatever items you drop.

DOCUMENT HOLDERS FOR CAR CARGO AREAS

If you have work documents or other types of papers that you don’t necessarily need the easiest access to, you can afford to get a bigger document holder that can be stored in the backseat or the cargo area of your car. Cargo area document holders should have a wider base so that they won’t tip over while you’re driving. Most will also have lids to keep your paperwork from spilling all over your car.

Document holders like this one, which are lockable boxes with handles to make it easy to transport your documents to and from your vehicle. There are tracks for hanging document pockets built into the box itself.

This document case has pockets, and “pocket pages” that have different types of pockets at each turn. There are mesh pockets, cardholders, and a large central compartment with securing ties. This is also fireproof and waterproof to help protect documents as they’re sitting in the back of your car.

You might prefer a collapsible organizer for your paperwork so you have the option to break it down when you’re not using it. This foldable box does that, and is also fireproof, and can be used for legal or letter-sized paperwork.

MIscellaneous Car Organizer

Any of the document organizers for your car can be placed wherever you want in your car. This organizer is slightly different than the others on this list though, in that it’s an open-top bag that you can keep in your trunk or on your passenger seat, or anywhere in between. It’s a bigger tote like the ones recommended for your cargo area, but the features it has might mean you prefer to keep it close at hand, rather than in the trunk. It’s made to hold a variety of items.

It has a place made for storing a laptop, and a bigger compartment that you could use to store a variety of items, including several of the expanding folders that were mentioned at the top of this post.
